I started watching the original Star Trek in syndication with my mother, every Saturday afternoon before dinner, usually while folding laundry. I personally feel that Next Generation is superior to all the other Star Trek series. Argue that all you like, but I am a bigger fan of sociological and psychological sci fi than hard sci fi. The first few episodes of Next Gen were too much in the mold of the original series, but by the 19th episode of the first season they’d started finding their feet (and they’d sorted a few wacko costuming and make-up decisions. Men in mini-skirts. Whose bright idea was that and were they fired for it?)
Heart of Glory explored the character of the Klingons who were nothing more than a cardboard bad guy. We also get great insight into Worf.
