Halloween is over which means it’s time for me to indulge in the Christmas movies and this is the one I plan to watch tonight.
“Dean Cain of Lois & Clark and The Dog Who Saved Christmas stars as Glenn Barrows, a recent widower doing his best to raise his young kids Elliot (Jet Jurgensmeyer) and Phoebe (Meyrick Murphy) who really miss their mom. When the Barrows adopt an adorable puppy named Belle during the holiday season, it seems that their healing may have begun. But will Glen’s dog-hating, gold-digging new girlfriend (Kristy Swanson of Big Daddy and A Christmas Wish) spoil their newfound happiness, or can Elliott and Phoebe pull off a daring Christmas Eve rescue of their beloved new pet? Haylie Duff (7th Heaven) co-stars in this heartwarming comedy about family, friendship, and a four-legged holiday miracle. ”
Dean Cain! That’s all I needed to see.
Okay, the morning after, it was awful. Really awful. Dean Cain wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t super either. I have no idea what Kristy Swanson was doing. Haley Duff didn’t seem to know what she was supposed to do and she had very few scenes to do it in. All the other actors looked like people who were grabbed off the street and handed a script. And that script made no sense. Based on the work of the three professional actors I believe the problem there was the director. Just don’t put yourself through it.
