Then my laptop was stolen. Seriously, on my birthday even. My husband and I had gone out for dinner and when we got back everything looked normal in our hotel room, but why was the window open? And wait a minute, where’s my laptop?
Thieves had broken the window lock and slid it over enough to reach the door lock, then let themselves in. They grabbed my husband’s carry on bag and threw all the cash and valuables they could find in it before hieing off over the hill away from the desk, discarding stuff as they went. We found business cards, receipts, and Seoul subway cards along the path over the crest of the hill. I don’t take my laptop on vacation anymore and my iPad fits in the room safe.
Between the theft and the contest sucking up all my attention, I didn’t get to finish the book until I was in Chile, which is why the scene changed from the Philippines to Brazil. Of course, in chilly Chile, I needed the warm beaches as much as Tara did.
This is the first book in the series and the boxed set will be out in a month. I’m running a pre-order sale so the normally $5.99 boxed set is a mere 99¢ until release day. Grab it now or kick yourself later.
